Why WII >> Internships >> Choosing Your Internship

Placement Process

WII offers an individualized placement process where you play an active role in selecting an internship that’s right for you.

1. Describe. After your acceptance, you complete an Intern Profile, which gives you an opportunity to tell us more about your interests and qualifications. This document guides WII in arranging an internship to meet your needs.

2. Discuss. You and your program coordinator at WII discuss your interests and goals in greater detail. Based on your written information and your conversations, your program coordinator carefully selects agencies and circulates your materials to them.

3. Interview. You do phone interviews with potential agency sponsors. (Generally, students complete two or three interviews.) This gives you and the internship site an opportunity to learn more about each other and ensure a good fit.

4. Decide. In consultation with WII staff, your faculty advisor, and potential agency sponsors, you select an internship that meets your educational and professional goals.
